Dr.Francis Ghunney

Dr. Francis Kwame Ghunney is currently the Founder & Group CEO of MTG Group of Companies. He is a successful business entrepreneur who has led Group by providing strategic guidance to all subsidiaries, including Mining Tools Ghana (Pty) Ltd, Mining & Mechanized Engineering Skills Training (MMEST International), MTG Mining Services, MTG Lubricants Ltd, MTG Supplies & Consulting, MTG Catering Services among others. 

He holds a MSc. In Mining Engineering from KNUST (2007), a Post-Graduate Diploma (PDG) in Management Studies from the Graduate School of Business – University of Cape Town, South Africa (2011), and a Collaborative Leadership Certification Level I qualification.

He is currently pursuing an MSc. In International Business and Law, at the Robert Kennedy College, University of Salford, Manchester, UKHe is a certified Mine Manager by the Inspectorate Division of the Minerals Commission, Ghana. Before his current role, Francis worked at Mining and Building
Contractors (MBC) Ltd for close to two decades and rose through the ranks to the role of Mine Manager.

Besides the profound achievements as a businessman, Dr. Ghunney is also a philanthropist, a sports activist and a loyal fun of football and games. With passion and enthusiasm, he has managed some division two football clubs for several years and actively got involved in many soccer activities from an early age. He has a strong urge and a constant desire to develop the game of soccer by growing football legends as a legacy for posterity among sports fans. Francis is a believer of life-long learning and has an adoring desire for systemic changes that lead to better societal well-being.

He also worked as Chief Operating Officer (COO) /Mine Manager at New Era Mining Contractors from until 2010 after which he joined AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) Obuasi mine. At AGA, he started as Contracts Manager for Underground Development and transitioned through the operational roles of Underground Manager, Senior Manager – Underground Production, Operational Lead – Obuasi Mine Redevelopment Planning, and finally, Security Manager when the mine was under Care & Maintenance from 2014 until 2018.
